Greek Lyceum 25th Anniversary Concert, Destination Greece: A Journey Through Dance

In 2018, we celebrated 25 years of the Greek Lyceum of South Australia. The Greek Lyceum was started in 1993 by Vasily Mouzakitis and throughout the years, the Greek Lyceum has been instrumental in building the excellence of Greek dance and culture within Adelaide both in the city areas and the regional areas alike. The Greek Lyceum has always been an independent school but has worked closely with various dance schools and multicultural organisations within South Australia to promote the very best of traditional and contemporary Greek cultural dance forms through its performance ensembles.

In the 25th Anniversary Concert, there were some wonderful performances from our students celebrating this amazing milestone. This has come about through a great deal of work from our committee, volunteers, parents, families and of course from our amazing teachers, Marie Arvanitakis and Alexandra Nikias.

The 25th Anniversary Concert, Destination Greece, took the audience on an audio and visual journey through the regions of Greece including Asia Minor, by following the footsteps of dance. Audience members were treated to a visual feast of Greek scenery and art while students showcased traditional and contemporary dances, dressed in the finest authentic Greek costumes, part of the extensive collection the school has accumulated over the last 25 years.

Congratulations to the teachers, students and to all those involved in the Greek Lyceum of South Australia in the last 25 years. We hope that the work laid out by the Greek Lyceum over the last 25 years continues for many more years to come.
